2014 Marimar Estate, Russian River Valley

White Blend: 60% Chardonnay 40% Albariño

It was such a treat to taste this rare white blend of Spanish-styled Chardonnay and Albariño here in the states. The winery is located in Sonoma County atop a hill surrounded with unique artworks and heavenly gardens. The interior of the winery reflects the Spanish heritage of its founder and proprietress, Marimar Torres. The entrance to the winery is hard to miss with huge metal sculptures of black and white dogs, each a tribute to the beloved, departed pets.

The wine are all made from organic, estate grapes. For tasting options, there are flights, and even Tapas and Wine paring and Wine and Charcuterie as well.

The nose on this wine was luscious with apple, citrus, tropical fruit, and a hint of floral. A wonderful surprise was how crisp and light it was on the palate that finished with a refreshing tang of citrus rind. Great to pair with light caviar appetizers, salads, and seafood.
